About Rachel Cloud
I was always a daydreamer. But I was not just daydreaming--I was collecting a world of ideas, images, music, colors, smells, sensations, and feelings (a bit like "Frederick" by Leo Lionni). All of these things I've been collecting are manifesting in what I create.
And making art, working with my hands and mind, has gotten me through some shit. Making art constantly stokes this fire in me. And I’m processing things I can’t quite articulate until I see them realized visually.
And as a friend reminded me what the late, infinitely great Kurt Vonnegut once said: "...go into the arts. I'm not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something."
